My Story

Filipino multidisciplinary artist, who lives in Hong Kong.  She has a passion for performing music, singer-songwriter and is the founder of the Hong Kong indie band 2009 called Dark Himaya, creating dark melodies from the soul.   In 2018 she returned to school and received her BA Fine Arts with Distinction from RMIT/Hong Kong Arts School.  She is an educator teaching arts at an International School and the founder of Sinag Art Space 2020,  an independent artist-run space on Lamma island promoting and celebrating cultural collaboration in various artistic forms.

Her life experiences and memories are her inspiration.  As well as the Filipino community in Hong Kong comprises Domestic Helpers, Engineers, Architects, wait staff, musicians and their life stories.  According to Vianee, “Regardless of our status, we share the same topic - HOME”.

Her daily conversations are her research, whether written formally or just mundane experiences of being alive and reactions to certain situations.  In her mind, she entertains dark poems, the perspective of anxiety, struggles and acceptance.  They depict life’s turbulence, twists and turns and the struggles of turning chaotic minds back to calm.
Vianee’s methods incorporate sound and visual works as well as video performance.  Her video performance uses her body, embracing tragic emotions or anything being classified as fragility, accepting they are a part of life when living on.
She is also interested in writing text, and poems, producing them as sound or music and translating them into a tangible form; in 2D visual or sculpture formation.
